Former Students Return to the Halls, Make Vast Improvements

Updated: Dec 7, 2022

by Wendy Larson Schoggins (Also a proud alum)

WOW! Just. WOW!!

Dena Anderson and Darren Booth are siblings and co-owners of Stone Creek Custom Interiors. Their interior design and custom renovations showrooms are based in nearby

Amery, Wisconsin. Dena and Darren are also alumni of Clear Lake High School! They

have a soft spot for their old school building, now the Clear Lake Area Community Center (CLACC). When asked, they jumped at the chance to use their talents to help make

improvements.

Dena, Darren and their team adopted a space to

renovate. Their painting crew, pictured, is Shelley Winegar and Jennifer Bergmann

(Moore) -- who is also a CLHS alumni. Chris Fredericks hung the blinds, drapes, trim,

and pictures. Chris and his wife, Jess (Moore) coincidently own Whistling Pines Ranch,

an alpaca yarn business located in CLACC Room 140. You guessed it -- Jess is also a

CLHS alum!

The entire Stone Creek team participated in selecting the furnishings and then staged

the space. Shelley went the extra mile and found historic photos of the building at the Clear Lake Chronicle newspaper (CLACC Room 203). They used the archived photographs to create black and white canvas prints that richly accentuate the space in a meaningful way.

Teamwork might just be something they learned during their time at CLHS. Regardless,

it certainly shows that Stone Creek is a creative and talented team! Within a short time,

they've taken it from drab to FAB. We cannot thank Stone Creek Custom Interiors

enough for their creative talents, hard work, and generous donation!

Talk about fun, Stone Creek said they enjoyed this project so much they've already offered to do another space in the Center! Stay tuned, and we'll update with progress every step of the way.

Meanwhile, stop by and check out the now complete renovation in the north stairwell between the 2nd and 3rd floors. You can find it by entering at Door #16 from 5th Street -- the door closer to Main Street. CLACC is located at 560 5th Street, in Clear Lake, Wisconsin.

Would you like to join in the fun? We are sprucing up several areas throughout the Center and you can help! Check out how to volunteer at CLACC, talk to Wendy Schoggins, or just stop by the office!

The Clear Lake Area Community Center (CLACC.org) is located at the former Clear Lake High School building. Built in 1922, this historic building now houses dozens of local businesses including a fitness center, gymnastics, ballet and a dance studio, many local artisans, several non-profit organizations, a rich grouping of art- and business-endeavors, along with much-needed community services. CLACC is an incubator for small businesses and startups, offering very reasonable rent, utilities and marketing assistance. Additionally, it serves the community as a place to gather, with a diversity of areas for large wedding receptions, banquets, anniversary parties, lock-ins, charity dinners, meeting rooms, office spaces, retail shop spaces, and a licensed, commercial kitchen.
