CLACC Senior Luncheon

An Inside Picnic

By Muriel Nelson

On Tuesday, June 11 the Clear Lake Area Community Center (CLACC) welcomed 61 people to enjoy a luncheon featuring grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and plenty of picnic-style foods. The weather was a bit dreary so “Grilling Out & Eating In” was the theme of the day. Fortunately, the grill master, Warren DeBoer was able to deal with the weather as he grilled the hamburgers and hot dogs to perfection.

CLACC has set the dates for senior luncheons for the remainder of 2024.  They are each scheduled on a Thursday…. August 22, October 24 and December 5.  Like always, each luncheon will be served at noon in the center dining room. Mark your calendars and look for additional information as the dates get closer.

Occasionally CLACC is asked if one has to be a senior to attend the “senior” luncheons.  The answer is not at all!  These lunches are intended for people of the community, regardless of age, to come together to visit with friends and to make new acquaintances too. Of course, a tasty meal prepared by our resident caterer Joan Lillie, makes the event even better.

Since there have been more requests for Bingo, we’ve added a few more opportunities to play the game.  First, it’s been added as an afternoon activity on Senior Luncheon days, that is to say, once tables are cleared of the luncheon, the Bingo cards will come out. Second, Bingo is also scheduled for the second Tuesday of the month at 1 pm in the CLACC Dining Room. Bear in mind that it is 100% payback with 50 cents per card and 50 cents per game. Again, these game afternoons are more for socializing, and the modest game prizes make the time more interesting.

CLACC is always interested in hearing what additional activities our community seniors would enjoy doing at the center. Just call (715-263-2233) or email us at clearlakeareacommunitycenter@gmail.com. We hope to hear from you.
