Roofing Project at the Community Center

If you passed by the Clear Lake Area Community Center last week, you probably noticed some special activity going on around the area occupied by the Old School Thrift Shop. There were trucks and bundles of roofing material in the parking lot and plenty of roofers on the roof of the thrift shop. They were there to replace the last part of the roof that was nearly 30 years old. If you’re calculating exactly when, that means it was last reroofed when the building was still the local “Union Free High School” and Tim Wyss was holding Agricultural Science classes in that part of the building!
Thanks to a generous grant from the Fred C. and Katherine B. Anderson Foundation, the community center will finally have sound roofing throughout! The center has experienced leaking episodes in the thrift shop area, but no more! The center is grateful to Paul’s Sheet Metal of Rice Lake for their efforts to complete the work before the weather turns cold and snowy.
The roof replacement is just one of several projects on the center’s Capital Needs List”. A new HVAC system for the gymnasium wing plus heating system upgrades for the remainder of the facility, a new stage with lighting and audio systems for the Event Center and a parking lot expansion are on the list, among other needs. The community center’s regular income is not sufficient to cover these projects so the center must seek grants and sponsor fundraisers.
Monetary donations are always appreciated from our community. In addition, major gifts such as stocks and bonds, vehicles, and real estate are also accepted. All donations are tax-deductible. For more information on donating, contact the center at 715-263-2233 or check out the website at clacc.org and CLACC’s Facebook page, FB.com/clacc.org.
CLACC is thankful for the ongoing community support it receives. It makes all the difference in preserving our historic community center.
