May/June Board Meeting Minutes

Clear Lake Area Community Center

June 11, 2026


Present: Tim Wyss, Lori DeBoer, Virginia Cahow, Doug Cahow, Bert Petersen, and Wendy Schoggins.


The meeting was called to order at 9:30. Pledges were recited.

Secretary’s report-approved as presented.

Treasurer’s report-the report was reviewed and questions answered. The Treasurer’s report is approved subject to audit.


Office management-Wendy shared the results of the brat stand and auction proceeds.


Old School Thrift Shop-Wednesdays are going well. We are looking for new volunteers to help out. Phyllis is stepping back her hours on Friday.

Tenant Talk-nothing


Committee:

​Building and Maintenance-Paul’s Sheet Metal has proposed a 5 year warranty to the roof. It will not be any additional cost above the cost of the annual inspection. Doug moved to approve, 2nd by Bert. M/C

​HVAC-we are waiting to hear back from Cooper Lange of Countryside Plumbing and Heating. Once we know more, we can proceed.

​Room Naming Policy-Tim reported that the Clear Lake Historical Museum would like to name the Chronicle Research Room after the Clark Family. We currently do not have a policy. We discussed the pros and cons of allowing this. The name would only last as long as the tenant.

​Utilities and Renovations-work is being completed to get room 307 emptied and rentable.

​Parking lot-we do have a contract in place to have it sealed (was supposed to be 2025). The company is willing to honor the contract price. Project will take place in 2026.


Program Development

​Senior Luncheon-Tim thanked everyone for their part in filling in for Muriel.

​Auction-next auction is July 5.


Executive and Finance

​Wendy shared the status of tenant contracts. Tomorrow meters will be installed in units with air conditioning.

Grants-we were turned down for the RCU grant.

Unfinished Business:

​Cedar Corp/Apex-nothing

​Thrift Store Mission and Policies-this is a work in progress. Tim, Wendy, and Lori will be meeting with thrift store volunteers on Friday.


New Business:

​Tim reported that it will be $3800 to change out the water meter in the compressor room. The smaller meter will save us $250/month. Doug moved to approve, 2nd by Lori. M/C
