At the Clear Lake Area Community Center, help can come from the most unexpected places. A recent chance encounter turned into an inspiring, feel-good story our community won’t soon forget.
This Fall, Specialty Coating Systems employees have been given a workday to volunteer for our charity. When a photo of work on a flooring project was shared online, it caught the attention of local tile expert Trent Elliott, a union-certified tile layer who lives nearby. Elliott noticed something most people missed: cracks in the subfloor that needed to be repaired before tile could be installed.
Instead of scrolling past, Elliott took action. He picked up the phone, called the center, and offered to make the necessary repairs free of charge.
“Trent’s generosity and expertise mean our floors are being prepped the right way—beautiful, strong, and ready to last for years,” said Wendy Schoggins, volunteer coordinator.
In addition to that generous offer, Trent has offered to complete the entire project for CLACC, because, as he says, "you don't start something you aren't going to finish."
Thanks to Elliott’s skill and kindness, CLACC will soon have flooring that will serve the community for many years to come.Elliott and his wife, Hannah, and their two children reside in Clear Lake. He is also the son-in-law of longtime community members Martin and Laurie Newville.
