Out of the Woods Goods Relocates within the Community Center

By Muriel Nelson

Out of the Woods Goods continues to be the “sweetest” tenant at the Clear Lake Area Community Center (CLACC). Ok, that’s a bit of a pun because Out of the Woods Goods is a licensed confectionary business that specializes in some of the best handmade caramels that you’ll ever savor.

Several months ago, co-owners Misty Wood, Amber Schmit and Kristina Howell relocated their business down to Room 205 at CLACC. This move brings them closer to street level, that is, only one half flight of stairs to their suite. It fits well into their plan for selling their hand-crafted sweets from their office in the next season.

Their new suite location also brings them a bit closer to the CLACC commercial kitchen where they now make most of their product line.  The kitchen has some recent upgrades to make it more useable to anyone who rents it.  For example, a fire suppression system was installed in early Spring and that enables them to be able to make their wonderful confectionary goods. In addition, the old convection oven was replaced just weeks ago.

Co-owner Kristina indicated that with more than 10 years of culinary experience, they intend to use the community center kitchen even more.  They are increasing their product line to include, but not limited to pies, cheesecakes, cookies, brittles and as always, their many different flavors of caramels. This is good news for those of us who have a “sweet tooth” or need a little help when preparing for company, especially at holiday time. Be sure to check out their website, www.outofthewoodsgoods.com for more information on their expanding line of products as well as their current offerings of artisan caramels and candies.

Like many of their fellow tenants, Kristina, Misty and Amber are looking forward to the “Indoor Winter Makers Market” at the community center. The first Winter Market is scheduled for Saturday, November 9  from 9 am – 1 pm. Additional market dates are November 30, December 14, January 11, February 8 and February 22, again from 9-1. Be sure to stop in  Room 205 during the Winter Market and you just might get a head start on your Holiday preparations.
