Can Dance Classes, the newest business at Clear Lake Area Community Center (CLACC), held its first classes this past October. Owner and instructor, Candace Kuhl, is offering dance classes to different age groups of boys and girls (ages 3-5, 4-6, 7-10 and 11-14) as well as an occasional adult women’s session.
Candace is well qualified as a dance instructor. She started taking classes at the age of three at a dance studio in her local community. She continued to develop her dancing talents throughout grade & high school. Sometime later, Candace became a dance studio instructor and did this for 5 years before moving to the area. She also has several years of choreographer experience in addition to being a judge at dance competitions. Added to all of this is her joy in working with her “kiddos”, i.e., dance students, to develop their skills in dancing. She calls dancing not only a social activity but also one that builds body and mind.
The November dance classes recently concluded with students performing a “Turkey Trot” dance for their parents in CLACC’s dining room. Anyone interested in a few minutes of cuteness should watch the video of this event. It’s posted on the Facebook site “Can Dance Classes”.
Can Dance Classes is now preparing a Christmas performance by the 5 to 9 year-old class of girls and boys. Parents will be able to see what their children have learned during the month-long jazz classes on December 19. The students will dance to ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’.
Candace is also organizing a Christmas Dance Party. It’s on December 21 starting at 3:30, also in the CLACC dining room. It’s open to everyone who wants to celebrate the season with some dancing. Registration is required by contacting Candace at candanceclass@gmail.com.
Looking forward, Candace has planned dance classes for 2023. Classes will be held after school on Monday & Wednesday starting January 9 and 11 and finishing the week of May 15 with a dance recital in the CLACC Event Room. The complete schedule, handbook and registration form are available upon request from candanceclass@gmail.com or better yet from the Facebook site “Can Dance Classes”. Note that registration ends on December 23.
The area is again fortunate to have another energetic and creative small business owner who shares her interests and talents with the community.
