The Clear Lake Area Community Center, Inc. (CLACC) is among the 14 non-profit organizations who received a grant from Polk-Burnett Operation Round Up this winter. A total of $14,300 was distributed by the company to selected area organizations.
CLACC is grateful for the $1,000 received toward a commercial garbage disposal. This grant supports CLACC’s ongoing project to further improve its commercial kitchen that is used for many community functions throughout the year. The kitchen is not only rented by individuals in need of a large-capacity, licensed kitchen but is also rented along with the dining room for parties and other events.
This grant program is managed by the Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative. When members of the cooperative round up their monthly electric bills to the next even dollar amount, that money is given back to local communities via grants awarded to non-profit organizations who apply. Grant recipients are selected each quarter, or four times per year, by a board of co-op members.
Other local grant recipients this quarter include: the Clear Lake Historical Museum - $1000 for lighting and display cases; Clear Lake Public Library - $1,000 for their summer reading program; and Clear Lake Track and Field - $500 for a discus throwing cage.
