In a vibrant celebration of creativity and environmental awareness, nearly 100 students from Gaylord A. Nelson Elementary in Clear Lake, Wisconsin, crafted beautiful posters to show their passion for the environment.
Clear Lake Community Education proudly announced the winners of its 2025 Earth Day Poster Contest. This annual event honors the legacy of the school's namesake, Senator Gaylord Nelson, the founder of Earth Day.
Sponsored by the Clear Lake Area Community Center and Clear Lake Lions Club, this annual event - now in its third year - rewards students and their 'communities' (via an award for their classroom teacher).
This year's contest showcased the artistic talents of students across various grades, focusing on the theme "Our Power, Our Planet." The winning entries stood out for their originality, message clarity, and artistic expression.
Congratulations to the 2025 Earth Day Poster Contest Winners:
Emelia Babcock and Tayge Perillo (4th grade; Teacher: Amy Groth)
Ana Cuper (4th grade; Teacher: Amy Groth)
Elsie Brandt (4th grade; Teacher: Amy Groth)
Aliya Kuhn (Junior Kindergarten; Teacher: Jessica Pickard)
Emma Colegrove (4th grade; Teacher: Beth Weiland)
Evie Babcock (6th grade; Teacher: Rachel Turenne)
Each poster reflected a passion for combating environmental issues and a commitment to making a positive impact. This initiative not only celebrates student creativity but also reinforces the importance of environmental stewardship from a young age.
All posters will be on display at the community center through mid-May. The winning posters will then be displayed in the Gaylord A. Nelson room at the Clear Lake Museum all summer.
Let's continue to empower our youth to be the change-makers our planet needs!
